The Basics

Porte® is a mobile banking app with the service you love. We designed Porte with the idea that banking has a purpose, and transparency in banking is our primary focus. Porte works with Pathward®, National Association, to bring you a premium mobile banking experience that provides the access, products, and features you need.

The name Porte comes from the French word for “door.” Porte is an open doorway to banking that gives back. At Porte, we listen to our customers as well as learn and evolve with them to secure their future. Porte brings modern mobile banking together with the in-person service you need. Porte offers a Spending Account and optional Savings Account for consumers, both of which are accessible through our mobile banking app.1

Anyone 18 and older who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident in one of the 50 U.S. states or the District of Columbia can open a Porte account.


Sign up is simple, and opening an account11 takes just a few minutes. Download the Porte app   from the App Store® or Google Play™ app stores and follow the steps. You can also visit any ACE Cash Express location and a friendly associate will assist you in getting started.

Spending Account and Debit Card

Porte is a deposit account established by Pathward, N.A., and funds on deposit in your Account are FDIC insured3 through Pathward, N.A. For purposes of FDIC coverage, all funds held on deposit by you at Pathward, N.A. will be aggregated up to the coverage limit, currently $250,000.


Porte’s monthly fee is $9.95. However, you can avoid paying this fee if you receive $1,000 or more in qualifying Direct Deposits in the 35 days before the monthly fee is assessed.4 In other words, if you have monthly Direct Deposit of $1,000 or more, then the monthly fee is waived. There may be other account fees. Review your Deposit Account Agreement for details.


You can add money in the following ways:

  • Direct Deposit is an easy way to add money each time you are paid, and you can enjoy receiving your paycheck up to two days early.5 Find out more about getting paid faster with Direct Deposit.
  • Transfer funds from another bank account using ACH (Automated Clearing House), a method of bank-to-bank direct transfer.6
  • Link your existing debit card from another account to transfer funds in minutes into your Porte account.7
  • Add cash in person at one of our participating retailers.8
  • Add cash with no fee at an ACE Cash Express location when you have received a qualifying Direct Deposit in the preceding 35 days.9
  • Use Mobile Check Capture.10

Porte’s ATM network is MoneyPass® where you can access more than 40,000 no-fee ATMs.11 Use the ATM Finder within the Porte app to find an ATM near you. You can also withdraw up to $500 per day at an ACE Cash Express location with no fee when you meet Direct Deposit requirements.12


There are no ATM fees when you withdraw cash from a MoneyPass ATM,11 available at over 40,000 locations. You can also withdraw up to $500 per day at an ACE Cash Express location with no fee when you meet Direct Deposit requirements.12 Use your Porte app to find a fee-free ATM. An out-of-network ATM withdrawal fee of $2.50 applies to all other ATMs, in addition to the owner’s surcharge fee that may apply. Other fees, such as balance inquiry fees may apply. Avoid these fees by selecting “no” when the ATM asks if you want your balance printed on your receipt.


Download your Direct Deposit form in the Porte app and provide to your employer, or set up directly in the app in just a few taps!5 You can also access your account and routing numbers under Account Info in the user profile.


When you set up qualifying Direct Deposit, you can unlock some of Porte’s most powerful benefits, including getting paid up to two days faster,5 unlocking an optional high-yield Savings Account with up to a 3.00% APY,14 accessing optional Overdraft Service,15 and more! Receive Direct Deposits of at least $1,000 per month and we’ll waive the monthly fee!4


The optional Overdraft Service15 is Porte’s overdraft service feature. Once you enroll and meet the eligibility requirements, you will be charged $20 for each one-time debit card transaction that overdraws your account by more than $10, up to a maximum of five fees per calendar month. To avoid the overdraft fees, you have 24 hours from the time of the first transaction that creates the overdraft to bring your negative account balance back to a zero or a positive balance.


You may enroll in the optional Overdraft Service under “Account Info” in the user profile on the Porte app. You must receive Direct Deposits totaling at least $400 to your account within 35 days of your enrollment in the Service (Direct Deposits received prior to enrollment count towards this total). You must have a positive Available Balance in your account at the time we activate the Service on your account. Once you have met all eligibility requirements, your participation in the Service will be activated within 24 hours. Once the Service is activated on your account, you MUST continue to receive Direct Deposits totaling at least $200 to your account every 30 days or we will deactivate your participation in the Service.


There is no fee to enroll in the optional Overdraft Service. However, you may incur fees when you use the service. Once you overdraft, if you bring your account back to a positive balance within 24 hours, no fee is charged. After 24 hours, you will be charged a $20 fee per transaction that overdrafts your account by more than $10.


Yes, you can! Your Porte Visa debit card works the same as any other debit card. Use it in your mobile wallet with Apple Pay® and Google Pay™ as well as payment apps like PayPal®, CashApp®, and Venmo®.


You’ll receive your Porte card within 5-7 business days after opening your account. If you open an account in-store, you’ll receive a temporary instant issue card, subject to store inventory availability, while you wait for your permanent card to arrive. The security of your account is of the utmost importance to us. We actively monitor security concerns around the globe and, as of October 2022, allow access to the Porte app from the following countries: Aruba, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Belize, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Denmark, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Panama, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, United States, United State Minor Outlying Islands, Virgin Islands (British), and U.S. Virgin Islands. Please note, new Porte accounts may be created in the United States only at this time and we may, from time to time and without notice, remove countries from this list.


Savings Account

All Porte members will be eligible for a Savings Account with 0.20% APY. Porte also offers Bonus Savings, where members can earn more interest. In order to receive up to 3.00% APY14 on savings balances for the first $15,000, Porte members must meet the following criteria each calendar quarter:

  • Receive at least $3,000 in qualifying Direct Deposits to your Porte Spending Account in that calendar quarter, AND
  • Make at least 15 qualifying purchase transactions with your Porte Spending Account that settle in that calendar quarter.

Porte’s optional Savings Account is a savings account established by Pathward, N.A., Member FDIC, and funds on deposit in your savings account are FDIC insured3 through Pathward, N.A. For purposes of FDIC coverage, all funds held on deposit by you at Pathward, N.A. will be aggregated up to the coverage limit, currently $250,000.


There’s no minimum amount that you must keep in your Savings Account. Choose to save as much or as little as you want.


Porte Perks

Porte Perks is a targeted offer program that offers cash back rewards for using your Porte card to purchase qualifying merchandise and services.16 We refer to these targeted offers as perks. You’ll receive perks based on your shopping habits. You activate these perks and get cash back rewards (in the form of account credits) when you buy goods or services from the company offering the perk. There is no limit to how much cash back you can earn (though there may be limits with respect to individual perks). So, the more you use your Porte card, the more perks you can receive, and the more cash back rewards you can earn.


No, you do not have to enroll in or sign up for the program. The benefits of the program are automatically available to all eligible accountholders. To maintain eligibility, you must use your account in accordance with the terms and conditions of your Deposit Account Agreement and the terms and conditions of this program. You may opt out at any time if you do not wish to participate in the program.


No. Participating in the Porte Perks program and earning cash back rewards is a no-fee benefit available to all eligible accountholders after account opening. Please refer to your Deposit Account Agreement for any fees that may apply to debit card transactions when using your card.


No. Porte does not share your personal information with the merchant providing a perk. When you activate a perk and make a transaction with your Porte card, the merchant does not know you are participating in this program.

Questions about products or services obtained through use of the offers should be directed to the merchant responsible for the perk.


Charitable Giving with #DoorToChange

#DoorToChange is Porte’s giving program that doesn’t cost you a penny.17 Through this program, Populus Financial Group donates an amount equal to 0.05% of each purchase that you make with your debit card to the charity that you have selected, subject to certain conditions described in the app or at account opening. You can spend with confidence knowing that your money goes the extra mile. Netspend, Pathward, N.A., and Visa are not affiliated in any way with this offer and do not endorse or sponsor this offer.


Look for the option “Charity” on your Porte app dashboard. Select a charity from the options available in the app and then select “Start Supporting” on the charity page.


You can choose from any of the charities shown on your dashboard in the mobile app. Most charities are nationally known, and these charities cover a wide variety of causes.


No, you can only support one charity at a time. However, you can change the charity that you support at any time within the Porte app.


No, there is no additional cost to support a charity in #DoorToChange. You have the option to select or change a charity selection at any time through the Porte app. Populus Financial Group will donate an amount equal to 0.05% of each purchase that you make with your debit card to the charity that you have selected, subject to certain conditions described in the app or at account opening.


While breakdown by individual charity is currently unavailable, you can see the collective amounts generated for the eligible charities in the “Charity” section in your Porte app.


Log in to your Porte app and select “Charity” on the dashboard. If you are enrolled in #DoorToChange, you’ll see your chosen charity selected with the label “Supporting.” If you’re not enrolled, you’ll have the option to support a charity.


You can change your selected charity as often as you like.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OPENING A NEW DEPOSIT ACCOUNT: To help the federal government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, the USA PATRIOT Act requires us to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an Account. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU: When you open an Account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and your government ID number. We may also ask to see a copy of your driver’s license or other documents at any time. All Accounts are opened subject to our ability to verify your identity by requiring acceptable types of identification. We may validate the information you provide us to ensure we have a reasonable belief of your identity. If we are not able to verify your identity to our satisfaction, we will not open your Account or we may close the Account if it was previously funded. Your Account is subject to fraud prevention restrictions at any time, with or without notice.

  3. Upon successful activation and registration of the Account, funds on deposit at Pathward, N.A. Member FDIC, are insured up to the standard maximum deposit insurance limit. Coverage limit is subject to aggregation of all of Accountholder’s funds held on deposit at Pathward, N.A.

  5. Faster funding claim is based on a comparison of our policy of making funds available upon receipt of payment instruction versus the typical banking practice of posting funds at settlement. Approval review usually takes 3 to 5 minutes but can take up to one hour. All checks are subject to approval for funding in Ingo Money’s sole discretion. Fees apply for approved Money in Minutes transactions funded to your account. Unapproved checks will not be funded to your account. Ingo Money reserves the right to recover losses resulting from illegal or fraudulent use of the Ingo Money Service. Your wireless carrier may charge a fee for message and data usage. Additional transaction fees, costs, terms and conditions may be associated with the funding and use of your account. See your Deposit Account Agreement for details. Mobile Check Capture service is not available for use within the state of New York.

  11. No ATM owner surcharge or ATM Cash Withdrawal Fees for domestic ATM withdrawals at MoneyPass® ATMs (“in-network ATMs”). Visit the Porte Mobile App for a list of in-network ATMs. All other ATMs may apply an owner’s surcharge fee in addition to the ATM Cash Withdrawal Fee disclosed in your Deposit Account Agreement.   12. Make up to $500 in fee-free cash withdrawals per day from your Porte account by using your debit card at participating ACE Cash Express locations. $500 total is calculated based on all withdrawals performed at all ACE Cash Express locations visited in a day. A direct deposit (no dollar minimum) to the account within the immediately preceding thirty-five (35) days is required. See store for details. Although this feature is available at no additional charge with qualifying direct deposit, certain other transaction fees and costs, terms, and conditions are associated with the use of this Account.   13. Adding or changing your direct deposit through the Porte app is a functionality provided by Atomic Financial through Atomic’s direct deposit switching service and is subject to their End User Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.   14. The optional Savings Account linked to your designated Porte account is made available to Accountholders through Pathward®, National Association, Member FDIC. To open a Savings Account, consent to receive communications from us in electronic form is required. Interest is calculated on the Average Daily Balance(s) of the Savings Account and is paid quarterly.

    • An interest rate of 0.20% will be paid on your average daily balance with an APY of 0.20%.
    • Additionally, the optional Porte Savings account allows you to earn a higher interest rate of 2.97% with an APY of 3.00% on an average daily balance of up to $15,000 during a calendar quarter if you (i) receive at least $3,000 in Qualifying Direct Deposits into your Porte Spending Account in that calendar quarter, AND (ii) make at least fifteen (15) Qualifying Debit Card Purchase Transactions from your Porte Spending Account in that calendar quarter. “Qualifying Direct Deposits” and “Qualifying Debit Card Purchase Transactions” have meaning ascribed to them in the Savings Account Agreement. The interest paid on average daily balances of over $15,000.00 will be 0.20% with an APY range for this tier from 3.00% to 0.20%.

    The interest rates and APYs of each tier may change. The APYs were accurate as of 07/2024. No minimum balance to open Savings Account. Savings Account funds are withdrawn through the Porte Account and transaction fees could reduce the interest earned on the Savings Account. See the Savings Account Agreement for more details. Funds on deposit are FDIC insured through Pathward, N.A. For purposes of FDIC coverage, all funds held on deposit by you at Pathward, National Association, will be aggregated up to the coverage limit, currently $250,000.00.

  15. The Debit Card Overdraft Service is an optional service made available to eligible PORTE customers by Pathward®, National Association. Once you enroll and meet the eligibility requirements, you will be charged $20.00 for each transaction that overdraws your account by more than $10.00, up to a maximum of five (5) fees per calendar month. To avoid that fee, you have twenty-four (24) hours from the time of the first transaction that creates the overdraft to bring your Account back to a zero ($0.00) or a positive balance. Transactions subject to an overdraft fee are signature and PIN purchase transactions and ATM transactions. ACH Debit transactions are not eligible for coverage. Any negative balance must be repaid within thirty (30) days. Whether we authorize an overdraft is discretionary, and we reserve the right not to pay. For example, we typically will not pay overdrafts if you fail to meet the eligibility requirements for this service or you attempt too many transactions or transactions that create too large of an overdraft. Call us at 1-800-267-7080 or log in to your Mobile App for additional terms and conditions that apply, including initial and ongoing eligibility requirements for the service. This service is expensive, so we encourage you to research alternatives before enrolling. Once enrolled, you may opt-out at any time; however, you are responsible to repay any overdrawn amounts on your account even if you opt-out of the service. amounts on your account even if you opt-out of the service.

  16. By activating and using a Porte Account, your participation in the rewards program is automatically activated. However, you may opt-out of the program at any time by visiting the Porte Perks page within the Porte App. The reward offers we choose and send to you are based on your shopping habits. We will not share any personal information about you with the merchants who sponsor offers. When you activate an offer and make a purchase with the card, the merchant will not know you are a rewards program customer, but you will become their customer. For more details about how and when you get rewarded, see the program FAQs and program terms and conditions.
